About Me

P1040521

If you have ever dreamed of changing your life and moving abroad then you may be interested in reading about how, age 52,  I did this very thing.

If you have already made the big move and are living somewhere new and exciting, and occasionally challenging, then I hope you will enjoy my stories about life here.

If you are someone who loves Catalunya and who is fascinated by this small independent-minded region with its rich culture and history, then I am happy to share with you my own deep passion for this part of the world

I first came to Barcelona to dance tango.  Immediately I fell in love with the city and thus began a relationship which drew me closer each time I visited.

In 2009 I arranged  to spend 3 months in the city and I ended up staying for good.

On week two of that  stay,  I went dancing in the Pyranees and met my partner.

We now live in his home town, a city called Granollers,  about 30 km from Barcelona.

The last years have been packed full of new experiences and I have been writing this blog as a way to remember and to help me understand this huge change in my life.

If you dream of a big change or if you have already made the leap I hope you discover something  in these pages to inspire, to support, to reassure, to interest and to entertain you.

I believe that moving abroad is inspiring and challenging in equal measure. It is an adventure that can excite you and terrify you. The inner journey will always be just as important as the outer one – if not more so.

“Move to a new country and you quickly see that visiting a place as a tourist, and actually moving there for good, are two very different things.”

    1. Hi Rebecca
Thanks so much for the support and for your email too. I love writing about my life here but it is even better when I get messages like yours which show me I am not just talking to myself! Best wishes to you and I look forward to reading more on your blog. Kate x

  2. I wonder if the smile on your face could be any bigger?
A outward reflection of your inner journey I guess.

Lovely to read about the steps you took to change your world.
