Beach Days

I may have said this before but one of the wonderful things that I love about Catalunya is that there are dogs on the beaches.

Yes there are signs that say No Dogs!!!
But Duna comes with us and there are always a few other dogs who spend the day with their family, on the beach, happily playing or sleeping under the umbrella or swimming in the sea.
There is NOONE jumping up and down pointing at the signs or stomping over to remind you that it is not allowed.

Just people getting on with each other and their dogs.

  1. This was St Pol but yesterday we went to Caldetes. I like it there as it’s close and the naturist part is at a pretty end of the beach. Sometimes, and yesterday was one such time, there is a lot of rubbish in the sea. NB anti dog people (if anyone reading this blog could possibly be one of those) I saw no dog shit – only human things like plastic and cigarette ends and unidentified yuckiness at the end of the day bobbing around in the waves. 2. Dear Kate,
I don’t mind dog-shit on beaches as it is entirely natural, and bio-degradable unlike the plastic you mention that will take hundreds of years to break down. Why are humans so scared of dog-shit? Very few diseases cross the species barrier – dogs have their own diseases like parvovirus which we can’t catch. There is rabies of course but you can’t get it from dog-shit.
