You can’t buy hot chillies or coriander but almost every second market stall sells pants
I am not easy with taking photos in the street – can’t wait to get my Smartphone so I can secretly snap one while pretending to write a text.
It does look a bit suspicious photographing underwear so I went to a stall and asked the woman
‘Te molesta si hago una foto de tus calçetes?’
This is a mixture of castellano and catala (which is how I normally speak here) and in English means
‘Would it bother you if I took a photo of your pants?’
Surprisingly she told me to go ahead!

🙂 so funny!
If you have a favoutite market stall, ask them if they can get some cilantro…same stuff, different name..if you mean the greens not the seeds.
If it is the seeds you want I know a fantastic place in BCN. Though Granollers is big enough it should have a good asian grocery store. They would carry it too. There is a store in the Boqueria that sells dried hot chilies….
thanks oreneta – it’s a good idea to ask them to get me some. Actually if I go to Canovelles market on a sunday there is a stall with coriander, the green stuff. I found it once and bought a load in great excitement then let most of it go bad in the fridge. It’s something I grow in Cornwall so I am used to picking and using as I go.
chillies – I think I need to grow them this year. You can get the dried ones but i want fresh hot. Perhaps they have them in the boqueria.
At least I have found a little asian shop here that sells fresh ginger.
Hope the party goes well.

That’s a lot of knickers!
I love this story and the photos… I presume you waved your camera at her stall and not at her 😉
